Rope Ladder Fiction, along with partners at Screen Manchester and Wall to Wall Media, are now into the fifth iteration of the hugely successful Production Development Trainee Scheme, which enables individuals who are new to the sector to secure six month long paid opportunities, developing skills in a specific craft area. Over thirty-five individuals have now completed the programme, and have gone on to secure further work in the sector.

Rope Ladder is also working on schemes for emerging directors, in partnership with Warner Brothers Discovery; writers, in partnership with BBC Writers Room; and script editors, in partnership with Duly Noted, an initiative led by Eleven Films, SONY. All opportunities are advertised on our website and on social media.

Waterloo Road Trainee Scheme 

Rope Ladder Fiction in partnership with Wall to Wall, the BBC and Screen Manchester, delivers a bespoke production trainee programme, which runs every six months. The programme offers a paid placement in specific craft skill areas, and requires no prior knowledge of the screen sector. Each of the individuals who have completed placements have gone on to secure further work in the industry.

Salford University Partnership 

Over the last academic year the Rope Ladder Fiction team have given workshops to creative producing students at Salford University and supported them shooting and delivering short films shot on the Waterloo Road set.

BBC Writers Room 

Rope Ladder Fiction works closely with BBC Writers room, both in delivering workshops as well as offering a programme of shadow script writing; candidates who have completed a shadow script have gone on to write on the show.

Script Editor Forum

Rope Ladder Fiction have partnered with Eleven Film to host the Script Editor Forum in Manchester, continuing an initiative that Cameron Roach led at Sky; ensuring that Script Editors feel supported as they build their careers and benefit from a network of other script editors and script professionals.
